Aloha, HKNA members. Hope your early summer is going well.
I would like to introduce a great FREE training opportunity offered by National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health (NPWH) to support healthcare professionals like us in navigating conversations around reproductive health. This training is open to all—members and non-members alike—including students, certified WHNPs, and all APRNs.
In today’s rapidly changing healthcare landscape, the ability to engage in respectful, compassionate conversations around reproductive care—including abortion—is not just important, it’s essential. Equally critical is understanding your rights and responsibilities in providing this care, even as the legal and policy environment continues to shift.
The Reproductive Health Coalition is offering a 2-part training focused on Navigating Conversations in Reproductive Care. You do not have to view part 1 to attend the live training.
Part I: Shared Values is available asynchronously. REGISTER
Part 2: Demonstrating Care. Live virtual training on June 10, 7:30-9:30 pm ET. REGISTER
Participants will learn practical strategies to engage in more effective and empathetic conversations, grounded in shared values and designed to support respectful, patient-centered care.
Through this training, participants will:
Learn strategies to communicate with clarity and intention, ensuring your message has the desired impact.
Use shared values to build trust and strengthen patient-provider relationships.
Approach conversations with greater empathy and compassion.
Present as a trusted healthcare provider, centered on care—not politics.
Ultimately, the goal is to ensure as many clinicians as possible complete the training, empowering them to lead more engaging, respectful conversations with patients. These communication skills are widely applicable and can enhance interactions across a range of healthcare topics.
I really hope you to take advantage of this opportunity to amplify your voice, enhance your impact, and foster deeper, more meaningful connections with the patients and communities you serve.
